Mick Guzauski has received 11 Grammy awards and mixed more than 27 #1 hits. He is considered one of the top mix engineers in the world.

Growing up in Rochester, NY where there are no nearby studios, Mick arranged his own studio in his parents’ basement with borrowed equipment; rented, manufactured and repaired by himself. At the beginning of the ’80s, Mick worked with Maurice White and Earth, Wind and Fire in the George Massenburg complex. Conway Studios in L.A became Mick’s home base in the mid-80′s where he engineered and
mixed projects for Burt Bacharach, Dionne Warwick, Mister Mister, Madonna, Talking Heads, Johnny Mathis, Henry Mancini, Patti LaBelle, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Quincy Jones, Michael Bolton, Cher, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, Mariah Carey, Talking Heads and Eric Clapton. In 2013, Daft Punk was looking for a recording/mix engineer to add to the team on their fourth album, and Mick received the call. Unlike most dance records, the sound of Random Access Memories is completely organic, with incredible dynamics. Mick is currently known for his natural and organic sound no matter what he does. His mixes always sounds unprocessed, real and sweet to the ears.

This workshop is aimed at producers, engineers and musicians willing to expand their knowledge, and improve their mixing techniques.

The workshop is composed of 3 sessions, from 10 a.m to 7 p.m November 15, 16 and 17 at The Outlier Inn Studio.

Focused on the ITB mix (In The Box), these sessions will be arranged in three large sections:

• Exploration of techniques and tools used by Mick Guzauski, applied to a mix made in studio with a guest artist.
• The analysis of previous work, based on sessions with various international artists.
• Analysis and work on mixes made by the participants of the workshop.

THE MAXIMUM CAPACITY FOR THIS EVENT IS 20 PEOPLE.

All registrations include:
– All the pedagogical materials and services needed in the session
– Certificate of attendance signed by Mick Guzauski
– 3 Meals/day with vegetarian and vegan options available
– Accommodations, either private or shared depending on availability

The workshop will be held in Studio A at the Outlier Inn, Woodridge NY. The Outlier Inn is a bucolic 12-acre property in New York state’s southern Catskill mountains, 90 miles from NYC. The Inn offers a peaceful and inspiring respite from life in the Big City. It is a retreat center, an event/workshop/location space, a fiber and vegetable farm, and a world-class recording studio. COSTS AND PAYMENT:
Early registration (before August 1): $1600
After August 1: $1800

Cost includes workshops, meals and accommodations. Private rooms are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and the remainder of the rooms are shared.

A 50% deposit is required to hold your place and is refundable up until the remaining balance is due on October 1, 2019.
